Wet steps fading, city goes dim
Your coat drips time from the brim
Glass sings once on the window rail
We speak in light not in detail

Lift me in the thin air don't explain
Let the high note carry the plain
If I break hold the ring of the tone
I'll come back brighter not alone

Hand on my sleeve pulse like rain
Street steam loosens the chain
Sky in a puddle open and near
Name me soft so I can hear

Lift me in the thin air higher still
Let the vowel bloom bend the will
If I tremble keep the door of the note
We'll cross on the shimmer like a boat
